1974 Glen Albyn 26 Year Old, bottled for the Millennium (Dark Distillery)

Sometimes, we come across something really special.

At the same time as US President Richard Nixon was leaving the White House because of The Watergate Scandal, and to the sounds of Barry White’s “my first, my last, my everything”, this spirit was being distilled and laid down in Inverness. Just 9 years later, perhaps to the sounds of Elton’s John’s “I’m Still Standing”, the Glen Albyn distillery was razed to the ground and any hope of creating more of this fine single malt disappeared forever.

Fast forward a further 17 years to the Millenium. This time, we like to think to the sound of All The Small Things by Blink 182, this Single Malt was finally bottled for consumption. Of course, in this case, it wasn’t – it’s still here with us, 45 years after it was originally created, to be enjoyed by one lucky winner. This is not just the chance to own a 26 year old scotch, or one made from fabled 70’s distillate, but to win a piece of history from a distillery that will never produce again.
