First up, the Caol Ila 16 Year Old (2008): matured for 16 years in a Moscatel sweet wine barrique, yielding just 278 bottles. It’s smoky, sweet, and brilliantly mischievous — bonfire smoke, raisins, fudge, and festive spice wrapped in candy-cane chaos. A dram for anyone who’d rather find whisky than coal in their stocking.
Then there’s the Benrinnes 15 Year Old (2010): aged in a single Oloroso sherry hogshead, producing only 406 bottles. Expect cocoa, marmalade, nutmeg, and orange peel, rich and warming — the definition of Christmas comfort in a glass.
Both bottles come dressed for the season, both strictly limited, and both guaranteed to sell out fast. Together, they make the ultimate Christmas double act: Islay smoke and Speyside sweetness in perfect harmony.
