The Morrison family — former owners of Bowmore, Glen Garioch, and Auchentoshan — built Aberargie on their 300-acre Perthshire farm. First casks filled in 2017, this inaugural release marks their return to distilling after selling Morrison Bowmore to Suntory in 1994.
True barley-to-bottle philosophy. 52% Golden Promise heritage barley and 48% Laureate, both grown on family farms. First-fill bourbon and sherry casks create a house style built from the ground up.
Baked apple and golden pastry open the experience. Succulent sultanas and prunes follow, finishing with lingering herbal notes. The Golden Promise barley — once favoured by Highland Distillers for Macallan and Glenrothes — delivers the full-bodied, oily character that modern varieties can’t match.
