Aberlour A’Bunadh ALBA 62.7%

Over the years we’ve repeatedly told people that Aberlour A’Bunadh is a “must try” expression. In fact, we’d go as far as saying that we cant think of another NAS Cask Strength Sherry Bomb that has anywhere near as big a following.

For those of you who aren’t in the know, A’Bunadh actually means “The Original” and it looks like this original now has a new pretender to its crown – the Aberlour A’Bunadh Alba. The name, in this case, is a reference to Quercus Alba, which is the name of the American white oak which is used to age this whisky. Drawn exclusively from first-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels, this expression shows off a different side of Aberlour – you may be more familiar with its heavily sherried drams, but this one is more about fresh orchard fruits, shortbread, and almond notes. Of course, it wouldn’t be an A’bunadh without a hefty ABV and at 62.7%, this really hits the target!
