Ben Nevis 18 Year Old – Cask 399
Distilled May 26th, 2005. Bottled May 26th, 2023. Yours for £3.99.
Some whiskies mark moments in time. This Ben Nevis 18 Year Old from private cask 399 was filled on May 26th, 2005—just weeks after YouTube had launched and while Star Wars: Episode III was dominating cinemas. Eighteen years later, on the exact same date in 2023, this single cask gave up its secrets.
For context: when this Highland malt went into oak, Facebook had just opened to university students, and “viral videos” meant forwarding email attachments. This is whisky that’s lived through the entire social media revolution, quietly maturing in the shadow of Ben Nevis—Scotland’s highest mountain.
Our First Private Cask
This isn’t whisky that was ever meant for shop shelves. Someone owned cask 399, watched it mature for 18 years, then chose exactly when to bottle it. Private cask bottlings like this were shared only with the most important people in the owner’s life—family, close friends, maybe a few fellow whisky lovers who truly understood what they were holding.
At natural cask strength (56.5% ABV), this is Ben Nevis exactly as the cask intended—unfiltered, undiluted, uncompromised.
Why It Matters
This is our first ever private cask bottling—whisky that was never meant for commercial release. At 18 years old and bottled at natural cask strength, this represents someone’s personal relationship with time, patience, and the belief that some things are worth waiting for. Private casks like this are becoming rarer as whisky values soar and fewer people can afford to tie up capital for nearly two decades.
Personal. Unrepeatable. And just £3.99 to enter.
