Now, we always love to see the words “Release 1” after a title, it conjures up ideas of untried possibilities.
What we do know is that this release, from Glasgow-based whisky merchants Goldfinch, is a 14-year-old single malt from Blair Athol Distillery that enjoyed an 18-month finish in French red wine barriques. The tasting notes are:
Nose: Marzipan, dark chocolate, dried fruit, and cinnamon.
Palate: Roasted nuts, mocha, vanilla fudge, and nutmeg.
Finish: Red fruit and maple syrup.
