Win Craigellachie 17 Year Old
99 tickets | | Max 10 per person
The most underrated distillery in Speyside — and one of the best-kept secrets in Scotch. 99 tickets, and one of them wins a bottle of the muscular, meaty, tropical Craigellachie 17.
Founded in 1891 by “Restless” Peter Mackie — the man behind the White Horse blend and the legendary owner of Lagavulin — Craigellachie has always done things its own stubborn way. It’s one of the last distilleries in Scotland still running traditional worm tub condensers, which give the spirit its trademark weight, its oily heft and that famous whiff of sulphur. This is not your polite, floral Speysider. It’s robust, unapologetic and built like a brick outhouse.
Bottled at 46% ABV, natural colour and non-chill-filtered, just as it should be. Initially matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, then split for finishing — half in first-fill sherry, half in first-fill bourbon — before being married back together. The nose is all vanilla, tropical fruit and canned pineapple, with a curl of smoky liquorice. The palate turns meaty and rich: pineapple and custard creams up front, then oak, clove, a waxy weight and more smoke than the nose lets on. It finishes waxy, smoky and warmly spiced. Seventeen years of proper, old-school Speyside character.
SELL-OUT BONUS: If all 99 tickets sell, a bottle of The Autumn Blaze is added as a second prize for a second winner — the inaugural release from The Final Embers. A single-cask Highland Park, bottled once and never again, just 220 bottles in existence, at natural cask strength of 59.8%, non-chill-filtered with no added colour. It comes with its metal collector’s card, certificate of authenticity and the full Final Embers collector’s package. Two winners, two bottles — but only if we sell out.
