Win the Scottish High Rye Spirit 2017 (7 Year Old)
+ a Bottle of Springbank 10 — Because the First Prize Deserved Backup
🎟 Tickets: £3.99
⏰ Closes: Sunday at 6pm
The Little Brown Dog Scottish High Rye Spirit 2017 is one of the most interesting releases of the year — a “Scottish bourbon in everything but name”, distilled at Invergordon in 2017 by an American bourbon maker using a mashbill of wheat, corn, malted barley and rye, then matured for 7 years in virgin American oak and bottled at a hefty 58.8% ABV.
Legally it can’t be called bourbon. Legally it can’t be called Scotch either. In reality, it tastes brilliant — and it’s the sort of rule-bending, conversation-starter bottle whisky nerds absolutely live for. Only 300 bottles exist.
Flavour-wise it’s a riot:
Kirschwasser • pumpkin spice • pancakes with maple syrup • candied violet petals • Soreen malt loaf • spearmint • rosemary • nutmeg
That alone could have been the prize. But Rob didn’t think it was quite enough for a standalone comp.
So — because Springbank once again proved impossible for most people to get their hands on — the winner also takes home a bottle of Springbank 10. No messing about, no gimmicks. A genuinely brilliant bottle, and a whisky that sells out on sight wherever it appears.
Two bottles. One prize.
• A 7-year-old, cask strength, Scottish high-rye bourbon-style rule breaker
• And a Springbank 10 for good measure
If you like great flavour, great stories, and great odds — this one’s for you.
