Win The Ardnamurchan Midgie 2026 — Free To Enter

No tickets. No cost. Just a cracking bottle of one of Scotch’s most talked-about summer releases, completely free to win.

The Midgie is Ardnamurchan’s cheeky annual tribute to Scotland’s tiniest tormentor — the Highland midge, the infamous wee beastie that descends on the west coast every summer. It’s become one of the most eagerly awaited seasonal drops in Scotch, and the fun of it is that the distillery reworks the recipe from scratch every single year. The 2026 edition is the most port-forward yet: a vatting built on 49% ruby port barriques and 17% tawny port casks, with 34% ex-bourbon barrels holding it all together, and a roughly 70/30 split of unpeated to peated spirit that lets a gentle smoke curl through without ever taking over.

Ardnamurchan is Scotland’s most westerly mainland distillery, tucked away at Glenbeg on the remote Ardnamurchan peninsula. Founded by the team at Adelphi, it’s earned a fierce following for its total transparency — every bottle tells you exactly what’s inside — and for spirit that punches well above its years. As always, this is bottled at 48%, un-chill-filtered and natural colour. No shortcuts.

And the 2026 recipe delivers. The nose leads with red raspberry and golden syrup, freshly cut cedar, a floral lift of crème de violette and soft home-baked almond biscuits — before something more savoury creeps in, all preserved Moroccan lemons in salt brine and a wisp of lightly smoked, Christmas-spiced ham. The palate turns darker and spicier: gentle cigar smoke, bramble and lemon thyme, a prickle of pink peppercorn and piri piri, then syrup of figs, plum clafoutis and warm nutmeg. It finishes on bitter orange and sea salt, juicy and long — the sort of finish that simply refuses to let go.

Bright, layered and made for long summer evenings by the loch — minus the actual midges. And it won’t cost you a penny to win.

Technical specs:  48% ABV | 34% ex-bourbon barrels, 49% ruby port barriques, 17% tawny port casks | ~70% unpeated / 30% peated | Un-chill-filtered | Natural colour | 70cl
