This is the brand new addition to The GlenAllachie’s prestigious Masters of Wood series, and one of the most sought-after releases of the year. Master Distiller Billy Walker has built his reputation on world-class cask management, and this 19 year old shows exactly why.
After an initial maturation in Bourbon casks, the spirit was transferred into rare Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks that had spent over 55 years maturing fine Sherry within a traditional solera system. The result is a luxuriously complex Speyside single malt celebrating the harmony of wood, time and craftsmanship.
Nose: Brandied plum, intense mocha and honeycomb, with caramel snaps, molasses tart and rich cocoa.
Taste: Plum syrup, treacle and warmed heather honey, followed by black cherries, mocha and brandied orchard fruits, with crystallised cinnamon and ginger.
Bottled at 50% ABV. Natural colour. Non-chill filtered.
