This week’s 49p competition celebrates a whisky rooted in land, tradition, and fire.
Introducing the Lindores Abbey Hairst ‘25 — a small-batch release of just 494 bottles, matured in rejuvenated red wine casks, and bottled onsite at the distillery’s signature strength of 49.4% ABV.
‘Hairst’ is the old Scots word for harvest — and each year, Lindores Abbey Distillery marks the moment with the ceremonial burning of the bear, paying homage to Fife’s barley fields and centuries-old spirit. The bear and staff on the label reference Guido, the First Abbot of Lindores, and the land where this whisky’s story begins.
What’s in the glass is just as meaningful.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Mellow blackcurrant, caramelised brown sugar, almonds, and baking spice
Palate: Blueberry jam, dark cherries, roasted almonds, pepper, cinnamon, and rich chocolate ganache
Finish: Smooth, long, and velvety, with balanced spice and sweetness
