Released originally in 2012 and now removed from production, The Macallan Sienna is the most prized bottle within The Macallan’s 1824 series – a series created to show off the variations that come from the distillery’s commitment to 100% natural colour.
Since its discontinuation, the bottle (and to an extent the rest of the range), has gone from strength to strength in the second-user market. So much so, that its graphical performance recently at auction is really something to behold! Our previous greatest result was the 2017 Classic Cut which now goes for £1600 – will this do the same?
NOSE
Opens with a subtle vanilla nose, persistent yet not overpowering. Orange elbows its way in, turning zesty and sharp, though tempering green apples add freshness and balance. Next come white chocolate truffles, chewy, sumptuous, with elegant oak notes for a digestif.
PALATE
Dates, figs, and raisins lead, then defer to nutmeg and ginger with a hint of oranges and apples, before vanilla returns in majesty.
FINISH The final fanfare is gentle, smooth, and warming.
