Springbank’s 5 Year Old 100 Proof is the youngest, punchiest member of the core range – a modern reimagining of a retro bottling that vanished back in the 1990s and only recently returned. Released in small batches, it sells out fast every time, and this is the fresh 2026 edition.
Fully matured in bourbon casks and bottled at a full 100 proof – that’s 57.1% ABV – with natural colour and no chill-filtration, just as Springbank do everything. This is a chance to taste the spirit young, bright and full of character, with less cask influence getting in the way. The nose is vibrant and uplifting: green apples, gorse bush, wine gums and a flinty mineral edge. The palate is bold and youthful with a dusting of peat smoke, icing sugar and white chocolate sweetness, then a savoury turn of tomato plant, sunflower seeds and linseed oil. It finishes on honey and gooseberries. Classic Campbeltown swagger in a five-year-old.
